Passementerie.


Passementerie... is a French word relating to adornment. 
For textiles, it refers to decorative trims,
 edges, braids and also buttons. 
Most passementerie is constructed using weave processes 
and/or hand and machine embroidery techniques. 

An example of passementerie which I have been looking at is textile artist Elizabeth Ashdown (work below)
